A Summer of Thrift Love

By | 2020-07-14T13:56:40+00:00 July 14th, 2020|0 Comments

I hope you’re all having a fantastic summer! Mine has been pretty good for the most part. I’ve been working from home so I get to spend more time watching my favorite Netflix shows. Speaking about Netflix shows, I’ve been enjoying watching Korean dramas! Drop a comment below and let me know what shows you’ve been watching!

This week’s thrift outfit I found at Goodwill is a long simple flower dress with two side splits and off-the-shoulder sleeves. The dress is originally from Forever21, but  I thrifted it at Goodwill for just $5.98! It looks far more expensive on than $5.98!!

It doesn’t look like much on the hanger, but…

One of the things I love about the dress is it has a silicon lining on the chest area that allows it to stay in place and not accidentally reveal the entire chest area. The side split makes it super fun to wear. It feels great and dramatic whenever the cool breeze blows!

I wanted to wear it somewhere that’s also dramatic, so I headed out to the Hindu Temple of Florida in Tampa. What a beautiful place!

Isn’t it amaaaazing?!

This is as close to exotic traveling I could get with our current situation! But I think this dress would be great vacation attire to wear to for an afternoon lunch. Once everything settles, I plan to wear it everywhere LOL!

See you next time!

In the meantime, keep safe and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Red, White & New!

By | 2020-06-29T13:49:04+00:00 June 29th, 2020|0 Comments

Hey thrifters!

It’s been a while since the last outfit I shared with you. I hope you are taking good care of yourself physically and mentally in these trying times.

Although it’s been relatively hard for everyone, I’ve been keeping a light heart and staying optimistic for a better tomorrow.

As you probably know, Goodwill stores had to temporarily close for health and safety reasons, and I couldn’t be any happier when I learned they had reopened!

Fourth of July is approaching, and I managed to score a few outfits inspired by the upcoming holiday. Of course this year will be spent differently – I’m planning on doing a virtual hangout with my friends and faraway family members.

The first outfit I found was a brand new Ralph Lauren Polo dress; it was originally priced at $99.99, and I scored it for about $25. A fraction of the original retail price! Can you believe it?!

I love that it has long sleeves, is a bit stretchy, and shows off my curves. It flatters my body and I feel very comfortable in it!

The next item I found is this super cute star-studded shirt from Old Navy. It was priced at $4.48 at Goodwill.

I paired it with white jeans from Old Navy I found at Goodwill several months ago for $9.98.

I love the material of the shirt; it’s really soft and I love the versatility of how it can be styled with either a cute dark jean pant, overalls, or jean skirt.

My wish for this year’s independence holiday is to bring forth more indestructible unity, peace, and continuous love. I hope you all stay safe while you celebrate with your friends and loved ones.

Happy Fourth!

Taking it to the (mostly empty) streets!

By | 2020-05-06T13:38:00+00:00 May 6th, 2020|2 Comments

Hello Friends,

I hope you are taking good care of yourself and spending quality time with you friends and families!

As you probably know, all Goodwill-Suncoast retail stores are back open – whoop! The stores are packed FULL of donations collected while everyone on the planet is home cleaning out their closets – so I managed to find some pretty cool items. And, they have new safety measures in place.

Since everyone’s practicing social distancing, the streets have been mostly empty so I planned for a streetwear-style outfit to show off when things return to normal. It’s not usually my go-to style, but I decided now was a good time to explore where fashion could take me!

First I found a lightweight yellow turtle neck for $4.448. I love how subtle the yellow hue is. Yellow makes me look flushed out so I thought this would really suit me well.

Then I found these striped pants from a great brand, Banana Republic, for just $7.98. I love how the stripes give the illusion that I’m taller. (I’m 5’4″ so an extra inch added to my height doesn’t hurt at all!

And now, the shoes. MY OH MY! They are brand new and I found them in the men’s section for only $11.99! I love everything about this sneaker. They are super lightweight and it almost feels like I’m walking on clouds.

Put it all together and what have you got? A fun streetwear outfit!

I really love this simple outfit and I cannot wait to flaunt it on the street once everything has opened back up! In the meantime, I hope you stay safe!

What do you think about this streetwear outfit? Did I do good? Comment and let me know what you think!

My Resolution: Be Super Stylish!

By | 2019-12-26T15:24:33+00:00 December 26th, 2019|1 Comment

Hello lovely friends/thrifters,

I hope you’re having a great holiday season! I know I am. A few days ago I had the pleasure of modeling for Goodwill on FOX 13’s Good Day Tampa Bay morning show. The segment was about how to dress for less for the holidays. This outfit and all the others featured that morning were from Goodwill. I think my outfit would be perfect for an evening Christmas church service or a fancy holiday dinner party. It’s a classic!

full outfit

The A-line Kardashian Kollection dress from the Goodwill in Oldsmar was priced at $5.98. I must admit, I was not over-the-top excited when I saw the dress until I tried it on. The cutout back and the gold shimmer makes the dress more fun and irresistible, and adds just the right touch of PARTY!

See what I mean?

With the indecisive nature of Florida weather, you  never know when some chilly weather might sneak up on you. So I matched the dress with a BCBG cape coat I found at the Tampa Goodwill. The Goodwill price was just $9.98! Say what?! Yup you read that right.

BCBG is an expensive brand I can only afford from Goodwill! The coat is almost new and a steal at a fraction of its regular retail price. (To be honest, I feel like I cheated Goodwill on this one, but that’s what makes thrifting fun!)

Feeling warm and fashionable!

An outfit like this isn’t complete without some great shoes! Again, Goodwill for the win! The sparkly gold heels are by Enzo Angiolini, and I snatched them up from the St. Petersburg Goodwill on Gandy Blvd. Enzo Angiolini shoes can be found at Nordstrom, Dillards, and Macy’s. You can guess how high of a price they retail for. But Goodwill never fails! These extremely comfortable and like-new high heels were just $9.96! Catch me on the dance floor for New Year’s Eve in them!

How much more dazzling can you look for just under 30 bucks? Thank you Goodwill!

Thanks, it has pockets!

By | 2019-12-20T20:11:39+00:00 December 20th, 2019|0 Comments

Hello lovely thrifters!

On this week’s hunt, I came across a dress that would be perfect to wear for a holiday gathering with friends and family! It’s really comfy, and best of all it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Plus it can be worn in the summer and winter (Florida winters anyway!) And who doesn’t like an outfit that can multi-task, right?

From a distance the color made it seem a little worn, but it isn’t! Best of all, the price at Goodwill was just $5.98, which is what most dresses are sold for at Goodwill.

Did I mention it has POCKETS? Sign me up for any dress with pockets! It was one of the main reasons I chose it. It reminds me of this meme!:

For our cooler “winter” weather, I decided to pair the dress with a light sweater turtleneck I already owned.

Cute right?

To make the outfit a bit festive, I also threw on a pair of red earrings and matched them with a cute red bag. An outfit is almost never complete if I’m not wearing a ring. All the emerald-colored rings I’m wearing here are from Goodwill, and they usually sell for around $6.98

A friend invited me over for a Christmas party dinner and I can’t wait to attend with my super cute dress from Goodwill…with POCKETS! I’ll be stuffing all the yummy desserts in them!

A Tricky Wall

By | 2019-05-21T14:13:14+00:00 May 21st, 2019|0 Comments

Hello Everyone! I’m Mercedes from Tampa, a Goodwill-Suncoast guest blogger. I hope you enjoy this post and some inspiration.

I absolutely LOVE to decorate and can’t wait to show you what I did over the weekend with my awesome Goodwill finds! You can usually find me at the Oldsmar superstore on the weekends searching for treasures.  Don’t forget the color tag sales!  I find things half off all the time.

Let’s jump right in and see what I got! I have been wanting a small gallery wall and I found the perfect items this weekend.

This was my cart at the end of the trip.  There are some items in the cart you will see the next time I post on the blog.

cart of items

First up is this cute sign with the arrows.  The Goodwill price was $2.98 but it was originally $15.99 from a department store.

Next, I found these.  They were both less than $4. at Goodwill.

wooden wall decor

Here is the wall I’m working with.  It’s a bit awkward because there are vaulted ceilings so the wall comes in at a slant. It made it hard for me to picture everything straight. Still, I really like the way it turned out.  I already had the “Home” letters and the wreath.  Don’t forget to shop from other rooms in your home if you need more items. Thanks to my awesome hubby for leveling things out for me.

An Amazing Fall Haul!

By | 2018-11-27T20:19:36+00:00 November 27th, 2018|0 Comments

I know spring cleaning is a thing, but hubby and I recently did some fall cleaning and that made more room in my closet for goodies!

Let me tell you what…I just love Goodwill’s Color of the Week program! It’s like a little extra bonus when you find something you love with that special little tag.

I went to the new location at 2550 34th St. N in St. Petersburg and came away with this whole lot for $57! Let’s count…

…that’s 12 things. TWELVE! And numerous things still had store tags!

pile of clothes

This might be my favorite new shirt. I love florals. Check! I love things I can wear with multiple colors. Check! I love sleeveless things because I’m always hot…lol. Check! Ann Taylor and less than $5! A cheery look with this previously purchased LuLaRoe skirt from Goodwill!

Huntress in outfit

I know for a fact this skirt originally came from Bealls Outlet because I’ve eyed it there before. I even know how much it is, and it’s twice the “boutique” price I paid at Goodwill. This was a $7 splurge, y’all! I paired it with those Vince Camuto studded heels and a plain white tee. Perfection!

Huntress in outfit

This White House Black Market shirt didn’t have tags on it, but the fabric looked suspiciously new to me…

This was a steal at only $4.48! Their shirts run about $50-100. Please ignore my less-than-enthusiastic sick-as-a-dog expression. I promise I’m jumping for joy inside!

I paired it with yet another LuLaRoe skirt that I can never match ANYTHING with and a chunky heeled Nine West slingback.

I have another Goodwill haul to share with you all soon! Until then, Happy Hunting!

My Endless Summer

By | 2018-09-21T18:34:36+00:00 September 21st, 2018|0 Comments

Oh my! Can you believe summer is coming to an end already? Even though it’s 90-something degrees outside and perpetually sweaty?

I recently got a little bored with everything I’ve already paired in my closet and thought I’d try something wild. Ok, not that wild. What better to tie together an old Target navy and green tee and Goodwill acquired New York & Co. coral capris than floral pumps?! I snagged these at Goodwill a few years back and they are still some of my favorites. Since all of these items have been in my closet for while, I can’t give their exact price to you, but you know how I shop. Share the thrifty love!

floral pumps

One of the pluses of living in Florida is the constant ability to wear brights and florals even as the seasons change. I plan on taking advantage of that as long as I can.

Here I am feeling myself in a sleeveless Papaya top that I got for $4 at Goodwill and a Tommy Hilfiger khaki pencil skirt for $6 (also from Goodwill) with some White House Black Market rose colored pumps for less than $10 (!) at Goodwill. Even though these pumps are rose, they almost are a neutral in my opinion. What do you think?

I love this top and have worn it plenty of times both casually and professionally. A great snag!

We are just gonna pretend I never swore off the bathroom mirror, ok? I can’t be snapping selfies in an elevator full of people, y’all!

What matters here is the Goodwill prices anyway! Liz Claiborne sleeveless blouse $4…generic green skirt $4…studded Vince Camuto putty colored heels that have just enough *kick* to add a little flair to anything $12! That’s a cool as cucumber professional outfit for a mere $20!

(Sad to report this skirt ripped this very day and had to be retired. RIP, fun color. Thanks for being worth your price. <3)

Have you found anything good lately? Looking forward to next time, Hunters!

Red,White & Thrifty!

By | 2018-08-29T17:19:06+00:00 August 29th, 2018|0 Comments

I’ve come to realize my promise of no bathroom selfies just isn’t feasible. One only has access to so many full length mirrors in their daily lives.

This next little patriotic outfit will definitely be on repeat in my closet even though I’ve had all the pieces forever! I paired this Liz Claiborne navy peplum top with a LuLaRoe bright red skirt and a pair of suede Jessica Simpson heels. Everything from Goodwill except that awesome necklace–that comes from my mama’s stash of cool stuff she’s given me over the years.

The white is obviously my pale skin. America!

outfit selfie

Story time! On a recent trip to the Goodwill store on Gandy Blvd, it seemed like all of St. Pete had come out with me. There were people everywhere. I loved seeing so many people finding deals! While we were waiting to check out, a cute little girl was entertaining herself by trying on all the sunglasses. She tried on this next pair, grinned, and put them back. So I snagged them. Who wouldn’t snag brand new Foster Grants for just $3.99?!?

Full disclosure, on the same Goodwill trip I didn’t end up buying these next shoes, which I may end up regretting. They were super, super cute but I just couldn’t see myself wearing them with much AND they weren’t exactly the most comfortable. They were only $7.96 but I decided to save my closet for something I would both love and wear often. Plus I’d never heard of the brand. Lots of cons, not many pros. But look how cute…

I’ll leave you with this photo of me obviously feeling myself in head to toe Goodwill. Goodwill blouse. Goodwill skirt. Goodwill shoes.

You guys know I love the bright cheery colors in office settings! I did just donate this skirt too, so it’s up for grabs if you guys really like 😉

Boots, flats, tops and capris!

By | 2018-08-10T12:55:37+00:00 August 10th, 2018|0 Comments

On big laundry days, I laugh because my wardrobe is so similar when I see it all in one place. Here’s a recent “dry-cleaning” session in my bathroom. Notice a trend?

hanging clothes

Can you pick the new stuff?! Five of those nine hanging pieces are new additions to my closet after an incredibly successful day at the Gandy Goodwill at 10596 Gandy Blvd. in St. Pete. Those five items cost me less than $20!

  • American Eagle top $2.98
  • C&E printed top $4.48
  • Violet & Claire peplum top $4.48
  • eci floral pants $4.98
  • Dana Buchanan capri pants $4.98 but 50% off because they were the color tag of the week!

I also found two new pairs of shoes (gasp…not heels!) on that same trip! This pair of Bamboo nude flats was only $3.50 after their 50% off deal. I took a Magic Eraser to them at home and you can see the difference below. Someone gave up on them too soon! And they allowed me to donate a pair of nude heels in my closet. It’s the Circle of Goodwill Life!

pair of shoes

I also found these amazingly soft leather Sam Edelman ankle boots for $6.96 on that same Gandy trip. Maybe I can’t wear them for a few months, but they will be worth every morning I pass them by in my closet. This brand of boots retails for quite a bit more (check out Nordstrom and the like) so I was super excited to find them.

ankle boots

After Goodwill, I scooted across the bridge and checked out this little nugget, my friend Whitney’s new kid Finnegan! I can’t promise you’ll find anything like him at the stores, but I thought I’d share him anyway. Happy Hunting!
